Purpose

Reporting to the Team Lead, the Senior Energy Efficiency Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of energy efficiency projects, including the planning, coordination, and execution of activities related to the recommissioning of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, as well as conducting energy audits. They ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards while maintaining seamless communication with all stakeholders.

As a subject matter expert, they share their knowledge and expertise with the entire team, helping to develop individual skills and strengthen the company’s collective success. Role

The Senior Energy Efficiency Project Manager plans, coordinates, and monitors projects aimed at optimizing building energy performance. They oversee retro-commissioning activities, conduct energy audits, and perform performance assessments to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities. They work closely with clients, subcontractors, and technical partners, supervise functional and performance testing, quickly identify malfunctions, and propose concrete solutions. By drafting clear and rigorous technical reports, they ensure full transparency regarding project progress and results, contributing directly to achieving energy goals and the success of TST mandates.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management and Coordination:

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor projects.
  • Ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Adjust work plans based on project evolution and constraints encountered.

‍Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement:

  • Analyze project performance and identify gaps.
  • Implement corrective actions and optimize processes.
  • Produce detailed reports and communicate results to stakeholders.

‍Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients.
  • Maintain proactive, transparent, and solution-oriented communication.
  • Anticipate needs and identify opportunities for additional mandates.

‍Strategic Development and Innovation:

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal methods and processes.
  • Participate in technological and industry monitoring.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to evolve the service offering.

‍Leadership and knowledge transfer:

  • Act as a reference and mentor for the team.
  • Share expertise and best practices to support continuous improvement and strengthen team skills.
  • Support junior project managers and analysts in carrying out their mandates.

‍Health and safety:

  • Ensure compliance with OHS standards in all activities.
  • Promote a culture of prevention and safety.

Specific responsibilities

Planning:

  • Define objectives, timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Coordinate stakeholders and data providers.
  • Verify eligibility for grant programs and prepare applications.
  • Analyze energy data and technical documentation.

‍Analysis, investigation, and energy diagnostics:

  • Conduct surveys of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Analyze facility energy performance and identify gaps and opportunities.
  • Perform and validate energy audits.
  • Evaluate potential energy savings, costs, timelines, and subsidies.

‍Recommendations and implementation of measures:

  • Develop energy improvement scenarios and action plans.
  • Provide technical support throughout the implementation of measures.
  • Verify the compliance and effectiveness of implemented actions.
  • Coordinate the work of contractors and partners, when required.

‍Training and knowledge transfer:

  • Train and raise awareness among technical and operational teams regarding energy efficiency best practices, as well as new methods and tools used during the recommissioning project.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer and document methods and results.

‍Energy monitoring and results validation:

  • Monitor energy performance post-implementation.
  • Compare actual energy savings against projections and adjust recommendations as needed.
  • Produce monitoring reports detailing the results of analyses, tests, and surveys conducted.
  • Support clients in the continuous improvement of their energy performance.
  • Draft and validate detailed technical reports following energy audits and system recommissioning, and present the findings to the various stakeholders.

‍Related tasks:

  • Perform any other related tasks associated with the responsibilities of the position or as requested by the manager.

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in building mechanics, electrical engineering, architecture, or a related field.
  • ‍5 to 10 years of project management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in energy auditing and commissioning.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • ‍Certified RCx Agent (an asset)
  • Proficiency in French and English (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of building mechanical codes and standards (an asset).
  • Health and safety certificate for construction sites.
  • Valid driver's license (required).
