Under the supervision of the Sustainable Certification Team Leader, the Environmental Certification Project Manager ensures the planning, coordination and rigorous monitoring of projects aimed at obtaining certifications such as LEED, BOMA BEST, Zéro Carbone, GRESB or WELL. Working closely with customers, design, engineering and operations teams, he or she ensures the compliance of projects, collects the necessary evidence and proposes strategies to optimize sustainable performance.

This role is central to ensuring quality, the achievement of certification objectives and the satisfaction of stakeholders. Through their technical expertise and strategic vision, they act as a real catalyst for innovation within projects.

The environmental certification project manager plays a strategic role within the TST team, thanks to in-depth expertise in environmental certification, ESG strategy and the optimization of energy and water performances. This know-how contributes directly to the success of TST, by ensuring the complete management of mandates, from planning to execution, while coordinating stakeholders and ensuring compliance with deadlines, budgets and quality requirements.

Working closely with the design, engineering, and operations teams, the person on duty collects evidence of compliance, optimizes project performance, and maximizes certification scores. Proactive, rigorous and with an excellent sense of communication, she maintains fluid exchanges with customers, subcontractors and internal partners.

Through her leadership and commitment, she actively contributes to the success of projects, while embodying the values of innovation, respect, performance and professionalism that define TST.

Responsibility

Project management and coordination:

• Ensure the planning, monitoring and coordination of projects under his responsibility.

• Guarantee compliance with deadlines, costs and quality objectives.

• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

• Adjust work plans according to the evolution of projects and the constraints encountered.

Performance monitoring and continuous improvement:

• Analyze project performance and identify variances.

• Implement corrective actions and optimize internal processes.

• Ensure the production of detailed reports for total transparency.

• Communicate results to stakeholders on a regular basis.

Customer relationship management and satisfaction:

• Be the main point of contact for customers and ensure responsive follow-up.

• Maintain proactive and transparent communication.

• Anticipate expectations and propose adapted solutions to guarantee maximum satisfaction.

Strategic development and innovation:

• Contribute to the improvement of project management methods and internal processes.

• Participate in sector monitoring and propose innovations adapted to the needs of the market.

• Collaborate with internal teams to optimize service offerings.

Health and safety:

• Guarantee compliance with safety standards in all operations.

• Promote a culture of prevention and safety within the team and projects.

Specific tasks in environmental certification

Environmental certifications (LEED, BOMA BEST, Zero Carbon, GRESB, WELL, etc.) are essential tools for measuring and improving the sustainable performance of buildings and organizations. They ensure the adoption of best practices in terms of energy efficiency, the reduction of GHG emissions and the well-being of occupants.

Scheduling:

• Define the objectives, timelines and resources required for each project.

• Identify stakeholders and coordinate with customers and data providers.

• Define certification objectives based on regulatory requirements, industry standards and customer expectations.

• Identify the evaluation criteria applicable according to the type of certification targeted (LEED, BOMA BEST, BCZ, GRESB, WELL, etc.).

• Establish a certification schedule, coordinating the timelines of the various phases of the project.

• Plan and organize preliminary site visits to assess existing conditions and identify deviations from certification requirements.

• Analyze funding and grant opportunities related to certification and prepare associated applications.

Initial assessment and diagnosis:

• Conduct a preliminary analysis of the performance of the building or project in order to identify strengths and possible improvements.

• Compare current performance to the requirements of selected certification frameworks.

• Evaluate potential credits and determine optimal strategies to maximize certification.

Data collection and management:

• Supervise the carrying out of performance tests, inspections and measurements on site (air quality, energy efficiency, light, noise, etc.).

• Supervise the collection of technical data, including energy consumption, air quality, material use and water management.

Skills required and working conditions

The skills required to become an Environmental Certification Project Manager are:

Know

• Bachelor's degree in building mechanics, electrical, architecture or other related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management.

• 5 to 10 years of experience in ESG and environmental certifications (LEED, BOMABEST, Zero Carbon, GRESB, WELL, etc.)

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in monitoring energy performance and water consumption, as well as in building sciences (Energy Star Portfolio Manager, Athena Impact estimator, RETScreen)

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in producing a GHG assessment, building life cycle analysis and climate risk assessment

• Obtaining LEED Maintenance & Operation (O+M) professional certification

• Fluency in French and English (spoken and written).

• Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite

• Mastery of building codes and standards and associated certifications.

Health and safety certificate for construction sites

• Valid driver's license and ability to travel in Quebec, Ontario and elsewhere in Canada.
